MATHEMATICS Launches Never-Before-Seen #MATHMONDAYS Campaign

For starters, everyone that knows me knows that this is a SHAMELESS PLUG, considering that I am MATHEMATICS’ publicist, but, who cares, I have an outlet so why not use it, right? Besides, this could help any other publicists trying to break into entertainment PR.

For those just tuning into my blog, I am Jada, a 22 year old recent college graduate who started doing freelance entertainment publicity 7 months ago, and it has been working GREAT for me so far.

About 2 1/2 months ago, I began representing an EXTREMELY talented individual who goes by the name of MATHEMATICS. He is an independent Hip Hop artist currently based in Baltimore, MD and has been great to work with so far.

Well, on to the actual POST, MATHEMATICS recently launched a social media campaign associated with the hashtag #MATHMONDAYS, A never-before-seen social media series where he releases new visual content in the form of a music video, vlog, freestyle video, behind the scenes footage, etc. to his fans every Monday. This campaign invites fans into and through the artist’s journey to success. They will watch as business meetings are conducted, music video concepts are discussed and even see albums being produced. The best facet of this new campaign is that fans will become part of the Mathematics Music team, as their comments and opinions could potentially help dictate the direction MATHEMATICS moves on a particular topic.

Now for all of the videos so far:

Fountain of Youth/ General Beats Freestyle: Released on May 27, 2013

Day Pass Feat. Up D Music Video: Released May 20, 2013

Money Out the A** Music Video: Released May 13, 2013

#MATHMONDAYS Trailer: Released on May 5, 2013

About MATHEMATICS

MATHEMATICS is an independent hip hop artist based in Baltimore, Md. His music can best be described as clever, yet thought-provoking. He isn’t confined to one particular style and often diversifies his techniques, using swift deliveries on more upbeat tracks. Controversially, his profound lyricism remains bold and truthful, something uncommon in an industry that is littered with labels and artists who are motivated by making fast money.

MATHEMATICS has been featured on Hip-Hop.com, Smoke Break Live, Open Fly Mag, iSocialite media, DC Mumbo Sauce, DMV Jamz and many more. His “Ignorant Sh*t” video reached over 6,000+ views on Youtube. He has worked with nationally recognized photographer, Roy Cox and won a rap contest that earned him two tickets to the 2011 BET Awards. Some of his past performances include: Sonar night club, Bourban Street nightclub, RamsHead Live! and Fishhead Cantina

MATHEMATICS has the following social media presence: Instagram: @_Mathematics, Twitter: @_Mathematics, Facebook.com/MathematicsMusic, Youtube.com/MathematicsMusic

That’s all for now 🙂 Stay Tuned……

My Life is Changing…..

So, as many of you fashionistas know, I have not posted for about a month now and I feel that I cannot go another day without explaining to you why I have been gone.

In an effort not to drown you in text, i’m including photos of myself from while I was away…..

To begin, iiamcouture.com is changing because, well, i’m growing up and changing. I haven’t posted about fashion event coverage because I have been transitioning into my career. I have been tirelessly working on establishing myself early-on and pre-graduation as a Public Relations practitioner.

Now, onto what I will be blogging about!

In my absence, I snagged an internship with none other than:

Power and Leadership: Inspirational Post to Start your Monday

First off! It’s MONDAY! get ENERGIZED! I know, I know, i’m asking for A LOT!

Haha, ok, back to the topic at hand.

I attended a leadership conference the week before last, and I heard something there that resonated with me.  Then, I went home to tell my mom about what I heard, and she said the same thing. I just wanted to share this quote with all of you as you start your week:

“No one can take your power. You GIVE it away. No one can take your authority. You GIVE it away.”

So, in that, I will leave you all with this quote by Marianne Williamson, which i’m sure all of you have heard before:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”

It could be the leadership conference, or maybe it’s the fact that I am graduating in May, but i’m on an inspirational trip, haha. I guess we shall see how long this will last.

I hope you all have a great week!

College is almost over: What are you going to do? Tips on how to snag an internship

So, now that I have shared with you my views on two things going on in society, I decided to get BACK TO FASHION!

Now, as  most of you know and for those who don’t, I am a beloved PR major at Morgan State University. With graduation right around the corner (yay, class of 2013), I decided to share with all of my PR Practitioners to be, a few tips to snag you a great internship!

Tip #1: Alter your resume to fit that job posting. Make sure that you align your qualities with the qualities that the ad is seeking. I.e. if the ad seeks an intern with social media coordination skills and you feel confident in that skill set, then make sure you put social media coordination in your skills section.

Tip #2: Personalize your cover letter. Your cover letter is your chance to show that job who you are, so let your personality shine through. The occasional witty line never hurt anyone. Also, at the end of your cover letter, be sure to suggest an interview. i.e. I would love to come in and discuss with you the many things that I can offer your organization; something along those lines. It suggests some kind of call to action for them.

Tip #3: Have questions ready. Employers love to see that you have done your research and that you are invested in acquiring that position, son have 3-5 questions tailored to that particular employer ready to go. They ALWAYS will ask if you have any questions.

Tip #4: Always have your portfolio ready for the interview process. Make sure that it contains at least 3-5 really great samples of your writing and also bring along an exceptional piece of writing or a really great project that you can leave behind with an employer. Don’t forget your business cards!

Tip #5: Be persistent! If you are attempting to obtain a position in the field of PR or Fashion (in my case, BOTH) BE PERSISTENT! These organizations are used to receiving hundreds of applications. Make sure that your name is the name that they see the most.

Tip #6: No job ad? Don’t let that deter you. Sending out unsolicited cover letters are not uncommon. Just make sure you accurately depict your skill set and inform them of all of the qualities that you have to offer.

I hope that these tips help you, and if you need any assistance, feel free to contact me using the contact form at the top of the page.

That’s all for now, i’ll keep you posted with my luck!
